The American Legion Auxiliary selects current juniors each year providing them the opportunity to attend Girls State, which is held June 2-8 at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln campus. This opportunity educates youth in the duties, privileges, rights, and responsibilities of American citizenship. The students have the opportunity to set up their own miniature city, county, and state governments and administer them according to the rules and procedures set by Nebraska's laws.
The Wallace American Legion Auxiliary 213 has selected Sydney Pelster to represent Wallace at the Girls State week long event. The Madrid American Legion Auxiliary has selected Quinn Koop to represent their post. Sydney and Quinn will have the opportunity to learn about the various levels of government, and to become knowledgeable in Parliamentary Procedure during the many activities.
Congratulations to Sydney and Quinn for being chosen for this exciting opportunity! Thank you to the Madrid and Wallace American Legion Auxiliary organizations for providing our students this educational opportunity!
