We received the schedule for the Arapahoe Music contest so I wanted to share that with you along with some information about the contest.
The Junior High Choir and the 6th-8th Band are both entered in the contest but their performance will be virtual. We will record both ensembles at school next Thursday (April 15th) so that they can be submitted by April 16th. The students will need to bring dress clothes to school that day for the recorded performances.
The contest will take place in Arapahoe on Saturday, April 17th. Only students performing in an ensemble or as a soloist, will attend the contest. We will leave the school at 7:30 on that morning. The students will need to wear dress clothes once again. Our last performance is scheduled for 2:30 so we will plan to leave Arapahoe between 3:00-3:30.
There will be a concession stand throughout the day and they will have a lunch meal available but they have not yet announced what they will serve or what the price will be. Students can bring money for the concession stand or they can bring a sack lunch if they choose.
NSAA guidelines will be in place so masks will be required at the event except for when the students are performing.
I regret to say that not many of the ensembles are well prepared just yet so I hope that arrangements can be made for students to have some before and/or after school practice time. There are some very talented students that have put together great ensembles, they just need practice time to have a successful contest.
If you have any questions be sure to contact me. After getting no music events last spring, I sure do look forward to getting to take the students to this event.
Thanks for allowing your child to participate in this event and have this experience,
