Chemistry student's conducting a lab using 3 different types of popcorn. Goal: find the percentage of water in each type after popping them in beakers and on hot plates. Required measuring mass and calculating. Busy all hour. So fun to watch.

Biology students project: building a water tower. There was a budget to follow, buy materials, and construct on a time limit. Students used their engineering skills, teamwork, and critical thinking skills to finish this project on time and budget. Final test did they hold the 100 gallons of water aka 100 Pennies. Ask them and find out. Fun times

Advanced biology students are conducting an investigation on different hand sanitizer and soaps. They collected samples and placed on petri dishes with agar and will be counting bacteria clumps each day. Also swabbed their cell phones too to see the bacteria growth.

Flannel and Flapjack Friday! 2nd grade celebrated finishing their first Knowledge Unit: Fairytales and Tall Tales with colossal pancakes like Paul Bunyan.

Chemistry students used glow sticks to apply experimental variables and test the rate of reaction under different conditions. Fun experiment to start the year off.

Late: Science students started the year off by creating different pin wheels. We then reflected on the various aspect of energy that relates to the wind turbines. Hands on activity on the first day back, plus getting their minds thinking of the WHY. 😊
